Higher speeds demand higher volume tires, allowing for measurable aerodynamic gains. 5AM Gravel Limitless are engineered leveraging HUNT Patented Limitless Width Aero Technology to offer the lowest aerodynamic drag paired with the lowest system weight in its class. Independently verified by Cyclingnews through wind tunnel testing, which found the 5AM Gravel Limitless to be the fastest sub-60mm gravel wheel, tied with the Roval Terra Aero CLX.

The Purpose.

Aero at Full Volume.

HUNT engineers collaborated with top gravel athletes to develop a gravel racing wheel system that combines category-leading aerodynamic performance for wide tires with the responsiveness of an ultralight system weight when the course tilts up. The 5AM Gravel Limitless Ti_UD delivers the lowest aerodynamic drag in its competitive set at just 1317 grams per pair, with oversized rim beads to fend off race-ending pinch flats. Through the validation process, those same riders raced the system to the podium at Unbound and SBT GRVL, along with victory at Gravel Mexico.

Informed by HUNT’s 5-Stage Aero Development process, the Aero Maximized system concentrates aerodynamic gains at the leading edge of the bike, with a wider, deeper front rim profile where it encounters clean air and offers the most aerodynamic benefit. The rear wheel is optimized for weight reduction and responsiveness, creating an ultralight system, holistically engineered for efficiency and stability at high speeds.

Technology.

Designed from scratch by the HUNT engineering team to meet the future demands of high-speed gravel racing. Building on over ten years of aerodynamic and real-world rider testing, leveraging learnings from the 5-Stage Aero Development process, the HUNT 5AM Gravel Limitless wheel system was engineered to prioritise key performance benefits: aerodynamic drag reduction optimized for modern gravel racing tires (45-50mm); pinch flat protection and race-ready durability; stability and predictability in changing wind conditions; and low system weight for responsiveness and climbing efficiency. These demands are achieved through front and rear-specific aero maximized wheel designs, which consider each component in the context of optimal system efficiency.

The front wheel runs in clean air, offering the greatest opportunity to reduce aerodynamic drag. By increasing rim depth and width, while minimising rotational drag with hidden spoke nipples, the 5AM Gravel maximizes aerodynamic efficiency where it matters most without compromising crosswind stability. The 45mm-wide external rim profile with 9mm-wide rim beads smooths the airflow from wide gravel tires across the rim profile. The wide, blunt profile of the bead is designed to spread impact force, preventing pinch flats.

The rear wheel encounters turbulent airflow, downstream of the front wheel and tire, frame, and rider movement, making rear wheel aerodynamic gains less important in the context of the complete system. Rear wheel efficiency is achieved by reducing weight and maximising power transfer. A shallower, narrower rim with a 5.5mm-wide bead provides efficient transmission of every watt to the ground, while preventing pinch flats.

Among the competitive set, the 5AM Gravel Limitless Ti_UD offers the lowest aerodynamic drag with 50mm tires, offering a 1.5-watt advantage over the ZIPP 303 XPLR SW with 50mm Vittoria Terreno T30 tires, and a 2.31-watt advantage with the same tire in 45mm width. Heavier rivals come close; the Roval Terra Aero and Reserve 48|53 GR tested within 0.56 and 0.21 watts of the 5AM Gravel Limitless Ti_UD with 50mm tires, but at 1317g per pair, there’s nothing faster or lighter. The ratchets are nickel-coated to maximize longevity, tested to 100,000 cycles at 250Nm of torque. All freehub standards accounted for. Captive anti-rotational keyed spoke holes. Tires Info

HUNT recommends a 45-54mm tire for best performance, tire widths between 40mm and 60mm are also safe to use. Only use tires suitable for hookless (TSS) rims. If unsure, please contact the tire manufacturer. Leading brands, including Schwalbe, Continental and Vittoria, have many tires suitable for hookless TSS rims. You must not exceed the maximum tire pressure limits set out in the table below or the maximum limit set by your tire manufacturer if this is lower.

Advanced Carbon Construction

5AM Gravel Limitless rims are made using a blend of T700, T800, and T1000 UD carbon fibers, with high-modulus Mitsubishi Pyrofil HR4012M - a material more common in aerospace, aviation and motorsport applications. This blend offers lateral and sidewall strength, enabling low weight without compromising durability or trueness. The high gloss finish resists dirt build up and helps minimise aerodynamic skin drag.

Ti_UD VONOA Carbon Spokes

The top of the wheel moves through the fork at twice the speed of the bike, meaning small design features add up to large aero gains. A slim frontal profile combined with elongated bladed shape improvesaerodynamic efficiency. Titanium Ti6-4AL-4V end hardware keeps weight exceptionally low, while maintaining strength and resistance to corrosion.

Hidden Spoke Nipples

Internal spoke nipples further reduce aerodynamic and rotational drag across the wheel system, while retaining the ability to true and replace spokes as needed.

H_Ratchet 48_T DBL Hub System

The H_Ratchet 48_T DBL is updated from the race-winning system developed for our 40 Limitless Gravel Aero wheelset. The ratchet system has been further improved with a new nickel coating, offering a quick 7.5° engagement angle and tested to survive over 100,000 cycles of 250Nm of torque (40% more torque than most other road and gravel-rated hubs).

Race Tire Optimized

Optimized for aerodynamic performance and low rolling resistance with 45-50mm tires.
27mm internal width offers optimal tire profile, rather than overly squared profile, for better sidewall support, pinch flat protection and cornering performance.
Fully compatible with 40-60mm hookless/TSS tires.
